Christopher Grantz
, son of Frank Grantz and Sherry Scripps of Vandergrift, entered the delayed entry program of the Air Force on March 12.
A 2001 graduate of Ford City Senior High School, Grantz began basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, on April 20. While training to become an active member of the Air Force, he will also earn credits toward an associate degree from the Air Force Community College.

of Baltimore, formerly of Harrisville, has been named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy.
Fryman, who attends Western High School is the daughter of Mary Fryman of Baltimore.

Emily Cooper
, daughter of Jeff and Valerie Cooper of Butler, was accepted at Gannon University for the fall.
A student at Butler Senior High School, Cooper will major in advertising communications.

Jonathan Nicholson
of Sarver was named the recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship by Edinboro University. The scholarship is based on high school curriculum, grade point average, class rank, SAT or ACT scores, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
He is the son of Jan Nicholson Jr. and Patricia Nicholson.
Nicholson is a graduate of Freeport High School and a graphic design major at Edinboro.

, of Butler, an education major at Bethany College, recently participated in the first annual Student National Education Association Conference at Bethany.
The president of SNEA, Hankey was one of about 50 students in attendance.
