He is the son of Robert Rock of Butler and presented on history textbooks and their effects on history curriculum.

of Karns City recently presented a research project at Clarion University's 3rd annual Graduate Student Research and Professional Activities Conference.

She is the daughter of Laurene Bowser of Karns City and presented on student's attitudes toward mathematics in kindergarten through seventh grade.

Shaun Moore

of Butler recently was inducted into the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Mortar Board represents the school's brightest students in terms of classroom and out-of classroom success.

He is a political science major and criminology minor.

Moore is the son of Thomas and Debora Moore of Butler and a 2000 Butler High School graduate.

Matthew Zimmel

of Butler has been accepted to Edinboro University for the fall semester 2004.

A student and volleyball team member at Butler Senior High School, he will major in applied media arts: animation.

Zimmel is the son of Ellen Blose.

Melynda Mazurek

was inducted into the Rho Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Butler County Community College in March.

Mazurek, from Butler, is majoring in legal services/paralegal and is the daughter of Edward and Joan Mazurek.

Michelle Montgomery

was one of four recipients of the Clarion University Presidential Commission on the Status of Women Spring 2004 Award, which supports student research on gender or research in fields in which the student's gender is underrepresented.

A junior theatre major, she will present two productions at the June meeting of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

A graduate of Grove City High School, she is the daughter of Dale and Sandra Montgomery of Grove City.

were recently elected to the student senate at Clarion University.

Dandoy is a freshman arts and sciences major and a graduate of Butler High School. He is the son of Robert and Julie Dandoy of Butler.

McCance is a sophomore management major and a graduate of Butler High School. He is the son of William and Gail McCance of Butler.

Alysia Hutchison

of Butler recently received an Outstanding Community Service Award from the office of service learning at Indiana (Pa.) University.

A junior journalism/public relations major, she is a volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Indiana County, a member of the Mortar Board senior honors society and a campus tour guide.

Hutchison, a 2001 graduate of Knoch High School, is the daughter of Richard and Bernadette Hutchison.

Randy Cole

, a student at Grove City College, was selected as Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society's Province II leader of the year.

The son of Randy and Lorrie Cole of Butler, he is involved in the Mortar Board, Roundtable and the Crimson and White Society at Grove City.

Amy Kaylor

, daughter of Bob and Terri Kaylor of Butler, has been named a United States National Award Winner in Mathematics by the United States Achievement Academy.

Kaylor is a student at Butler Senior High School.

Jessica Rogers

of Mars was recently presented with the Board of Governors Science/Math Honors Scholarship from Edinboro University.

A chemistry forensics major and graduate of Mars High School, she is the daughter of Larry Rogers and JoAnn Rogers.

Jonathan Puvak

, a senior business administration and economics double major at Bridgewater College, was presented the

Wall Street Journal

Student Achievement Award for outstanding leadership and achievement in academics and the Geisert Scholar Athlete Award.

He is a member of the Philomathes Society, the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, the student senate and the Judicial Hearing Board.

He also is a member of the Student Ambassador Association, the president of Students in Free Enterprise, a facilitator for the annual High School Leadership Academy and the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award.

Puvak serves as the captain of the men's soccer team.

A 2000 graduate of Butler Senior High School, he is the son of Ron and Mary Puvak of Butler.

, a senior English major at Alfred University recently received the Fred H. Gertz Award for Excellence in Writing and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

A graduate of Butler High School, he is the son of Charles and Karen Love of Butler.

Brittnee Rock

, a senior at Moniteau High School, was named "Most Enouraging" at the Miss Cheerleader of America competition held May 2 in Pittsburgh.

The captain of the high school varsity cheerleading squad, she is the daughter of Randall and Kimberly Rock of Chicora.

Andrew Kriley

of Renfrew has been accepted to the Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles Camp II in Oshkosh, Wis.

Joe Krystek,

a senior international business major at Gannon University, recently participated in the annual Iroquois Club Economic Seminar in Conneaut Lake.

A graduate of Moniteau High School, he is the son of John and Robin Krystek.
