Car crashes on Rte. 68 downing power lines heading

JACKSON TWP — A section of Route 68 in Jackson Township was briefly closed Tuesday morning after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole, dropping live wires onto the road at the intersection of Route 68 and Rylie Drive.

The driver, Kenneth Moore of Zelienople, fell asleep at the wheel while traveling westbound on Route 68, said police Chief Terry Seilhamer, causing his 2005 Buick sedan to veer off the road and into the pole.

“He sustained very minor injuries and denied treatment,” Seilhamer said.

Emergency responders and power crews responded and the road was quickly cleared and power lines repaired.

Seilhamer said the route was only blocked for about 40 minutes.
