Monday — Kevin William Smith, 53, no known address, was arrested after he allegedly contacted 44-year-old Loriann McKinney of Butler in violation of her protection from abuse order against him.He was charged with the PFA violation, and placed in Butler County Prison.

5 p.m. Monday — A small back pack was taken from the front of Country Fair as its owner was inside the store at Pine Grove Square. The back pack later was recovered on West Poplar Street but some contents, including a checkbook and rolling tobacco, were missing.Friday — A black and white cloth purse and a large black cloth tote were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of McConnell Street. The bags contained several medical items and currency.The theft happened between 12:15 a.m. and 2:10 p.m.

Tuesday — Police reported that a 25-year-old Grove City man is suspected of stealing three aluminum garbage truck radiators from Tri-County Industries in Pine Township. The property was taken Aug. 31. Police did not identify the suspect, who faces pending charges of theft and receiving stolen property.9 p.m. Monday — A 15-year-old boy reportedly escaped the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township. The boy, who police did not identify, had been taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown medical treatment when he escaped.2 a.m. Saturday — Sean Schreiber, 22, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township.Sept. 6 — An unknown thief from England cheated a Grove City woman out of $400 in an apparent Craigs-list scam. The woman believed she was purchasing four Pittsburgh Steelers tickets when she sent the money by Western Union to an address in London. The victim, however, never received the tickets.
