Court date set
CRANBERRY TWP — A township man is accused of assaulting a man who damaged his mailbox.
Marko D. Maylack, 54, is charged with misdemeanor simple assault, harassment and careless driving after an incident May 7.
At 10:10 a.m. police were called to Haine School Road near the intersection with Freedom Road for a report of road rage, according to court records.
Officers found Maylack’s vehicle blocking traffic and talked to three witnesses who stated that they saw Maylack pull in front of another car, grab the driver by the neck and punch him in the stomach.
Police talked to the victim, Cameron Arnold, who gave a verbal and written statement saying that he accidentally hit Maylack’s mailbox on Jennifer Drive by taking a turn too sharply. He said he returned to the scene minutes later, but panicked and drove away when Maylack spotted him. Maylack then followed him, pulled in front of him on Haine School Road and assaulted him, he said.
Maylack told police that his mailbox had been vandalized multiple times recently and that he had caught one of the “vandals” in the act.
He was released from police custody and scheduled to appear in district court Aug. 5.
