MARS — Children’s author Zach O’Hora will visit the Mars Public Library, 107 Grand Ave., at 6 p.m. April 12.

O’Hora’s visit is part of the state’s One Book Every Young Child early literacy initiative.

O’Hora wrote and illustrated “My Cousin Momo” about a flying squirrel visiting his cousins. There will be fun activity stations following the story.

The event is free. To register, visit or call the library at 724-625-9048.

[naviga:h3]Concordia hosts Banjo Club[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — The Pittsburgh Banjo Club will give a free performance at 7 p.m. April 19 in the Haven I Dining Room at Concordia Lutheran Services, 112 Marwood Road, Entrance 2A. Parking is available across the road.

The Pittsburgh Banjo Club, founded in 1988, includes banjos, trumpets, tubas and bass playing music from the 1920s and ’30s, polkas and Dixieland.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Rotary is accepting registrations for the fourth annual Chili Cook-off set for 2 to 4:30 p.m. April 28 at Gateway Park, 100 Midway St.

To register and provide the participation donation, call 724-406-0160.
