No Jeep? No problem. Lots to do at festival

If you are wondering what you can do at the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival despite not owning a Jeep, don’t worry! The answer is “plenty.”

The festival offers a wide array of opportunities. From an obstacle course and great food, to exhibits and head-turning vendor displays, there is plenty of fun to be had by all.

“This is an exciting event for everyone,” said festival director Patti Jo Lambert. “Bantam provides an experience for the whole family.”

Bantam’s milestone 10th Anniversary Jeep Parade and Invasion on Friday afternoon gives you the chance to witness an incredible event, as up to 1,500 Jeeps descend upon Butler. Find a spot along the parade route as you watch Jeeps of every size, color and year cascade through the city.

When the parade concludes, take in the sight and sound of the Jeep Invasion, a street festival where hundreds of Jeeps are parked in unison in the heart of downtown. Both the parade and invasion are sponsored by T-Mobile and Superwinch.

At Cooper’s Lake Campground, visit the Jeep history exhibit and learn how the Jeep evolved from its roots in a small Pennsylvania town into a global phenomenon. On display are showroom-quality vehicles, spanning from an original 1940 Bantam BRC-40 to a brand new 2020 Jeep JL Wrangler.

Meander on over to the Military Encampment, where you will find re-enactors in complete uniform alongside period-correct military Jeeps and encampment gear. This is the place to learn about the incredible role Jeep played in winning several wars.

Come on over to the Jeep Playground where you can sit in the bleachers and soak up the action as Jeeps attempt to traverse a challenging obstacle course which includes the fan favorite mud pit. This amazing entertainment, provided by BFGoodrich and Quadratec, is great for all ages.

The Best of Bantam competition on Saturday gives you the opportunity to drool over several hundred Jeeps on display.

Each one of these vehicles is competing for a prized trophy across 17 different classes. If it is old, new, or somewhere in between, you will likely be able to find your favorite Jeep amid the crowd. Best of Bantam is presented by Jim Shorkey Auto Group.

If you are looking for something to do on Saturday night, the Duck Dash and Barbee Jeep Race are the place to be. Beginning at 6 p.m., watch ducks dash down a slip ‘n slide and then see wannabe daredevils race down a slalom obstacle course on ride-on kids Jeeps. There will be plenty of comedy and competition to go around.

Stick around for the new Light Bars and Brews event starting at 6:30 p.m. and the Festival of Lights, which follows it at 8:30 p.m. Enjoy craft drinks from Butler County breweries before dozens of Jeeps display their aftermarket lights and compete to win prizes.

The Saturday evening events are free to attend.

Daily admission to see other features mentioned is $10 for adults and $3 for kids ages 3-12. Spectators also get a card at the gate to play Bantam Bingo and possibly win up to $250.
