Following his two- to three-week stay in Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Mass., to recuperate from a compound fracture to his left ankle as a result of his deadly confrontation with Saxonburg Police Chief Gregory Adams, Donald Webb moved to an apartment in the Massachusetts area, “near the water.”

Trooper Max DeLuca, criminal investigation assessment trooper for Troop D, said Lillian Webb, who helped harbor her husband for 19 years, “couldn't remember the exact address or where it was or details about how it was paid for” but stated that Webb stayed in that location for “a couple” of months.

“Her time frame is loose, it could have been a few months afterward to a year or two,” he said. “She wouldn't lock in on a date for how long he was staying in that apartment for.”

DeLuca said Lillian would drive to meet with Donald on occasion and while he was staying at the apartment, Donald would call her at work if he needed to contact her.

DeLuca said when asked what Donald was doing at the time, she responded that she did not know, but DeLuca said the assumption is that Lillian was doing all his shopping due to the limited mobility from the leg injury.

At the autopsy, DeLuca said the pathologist reported that Donald would not have had normal motion of his foot, as the bone never fused correctly, and that he would have walked with a limp the rest of his life.

Lillian also reported that during the time Donald was staying in the apartment, he had a confrontation with authorities but could not remember the exact details.

She reported she believes that he was arrested, but later stated that he was taken to a mental institution, still under the assumed name of John Thomas, where he spent several days following a mental breakdown for a psychiatric evaluation.

“She said in her interview that he was remorseful for what happened to Chief Adams, was sorry about what happened, but who knows if he was, that is coming from her,” DeLuca said.

DeLuca said no information regarding that claim has been located, as of yet.

Following the stay in the mental institution, DeLuca said Lillian reported that Donald was then brought back to her house, where he stayed in a space above a detached garage for a short amount of time, before leaving again.

“She provided him with money and he would leave for a couple of weeks to a month at a time,” DeLuca said. “She claims she didn't know where he was or what he was doing.”

But he would always come back, she said.

During that time, she reported that Donald had confirmed that he was in an altercation and that he was responsible for Adams' death.
