Raiders score victory at P-R

Karns City boys improve to 16-4 with victory

Seneca Valley closed its Section 1-6A boys basketball schedule with a 64-50 victory Friday night at Pine-Richland.

The Raiders (8-13, 4-8) received 18 points each from Caiden Oros and Luke Lawson. Jameson Grieco added 11 points.

Seneca Valley took a six-point lead into the fourth quarter before scoring 20 points in the final eight minutes. The Raiders did not qualify for the WPIAL playoffs and close their season Monday night at Upper St. Clair.

Eric Devore had a 235 game and 652 series as Butler’s boys blanked Deer Lakes, 7-0. Luke Keene contributed a 235 game and 578 series. Devore ended the regular season leading the WPIBL North Section with a 208.35 average. The Golden Tornado boys are 9-1 this season.

Butler’s girls (6-4) dropped a 5-2 decision. Kelsee McConnell led the Tornado with a 230 game and 595 series.

Both Butler teams qualify for the WPIBL Team Championships next week at Mt. Lebanon.

Wrestling

Aaron Butler, Wyatt Foster and Logan Klemm secured pins for Knoch as the Knights defeated Shaler, 46-28. Knoch’s win was its program-record seventh dual match victory of the season.

Swimming

Slippery Rock’s girls improved to 10-0 with a 125-45 win over Franklin. Gracie Olshanski won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle for the Rockets. Mollie Massella (200 free), Tessa Szymanski (200 IM), Anne-Katherine Burns (100 breast) and Natalie Double (500 free) also won individual events.

The girls team swept the relays as well.

Franklin won the boys meet, 86-50. Cody Hartle won the 200 IM and 100 breast while Connor Wallace won the 100 free for the Rockets.
