The Pittsburgh Strikers Under-10 girls soccer team won the Memorial Day Shootout in Erie, going undefeated in four games and outscoring its opponents by an 18-1 margin.

The Strikers finished 48-8-3 this season, including first-place finishes in the Hempfield Fall Classic, PISA Holiday Bowl and Mars Soccer Boosters Tournament.

The team is comprised of girls from Cranberry Township, Moon, Mars, Sewickley, Prospect, Ambridge and Conway. Greg Helsel is the head coach.

Players include Christine Barthen, Melissa Lynskey, Amy Kolor, Morgan Felt, Alex Bilka, Morgan Williams, Misha Demchuk, Liana Leja, Bethany Perri, Amber Fichter, Katie Hughes and Mackenzie McGurgan.

In other action:

Seneca Valley's under-19 Stars United girls soccer team competed in the Memorial Day Shootout in Erie and narrowly missed reaching the championship game.

The squad was defeated by Super Nova, 4-1, before rallying to defeat Crew 9-1 and the Erie Admirals 5-1.

In the semifinals, Stars United held a 2-1 lead over Ohio Premier most of the game before losing on a direct kick.

Stars United players include Samantha Bowser, Krystal Burkholder, Morgan Chapman, Amanda Donohue, Katie Flynn, Anna Harter, Alexis Hester, Rachael Kenetski, Kelley Norton, Taylor St. Clair, Paige Weaver and Mary Zahorchak.

Larry Kenetski is head coach and Mark Renyck is his assistant.

The Prospect Boys and Girls Club, a coed team playing in the PA West Boys B division, tied Blackhawk 3-3. Quay Barnhart had two goals and Michael Stutz one for Prospect.

Danielle Wissinger had nine saves in goal. Casey Dudek, Kyle Hinchberger, Molly Weitzel and Rachel Caldwell were standouts defensively.
