7:40 p.m. Tuesday — Bryan Lee Griffith, 30, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting several tools and an 18-piece socket set from the Kmart store in Pullman Square. The items are worth a combined $106.59. Griffith is charged with retail theft.7:56 p.m. Sept. 28 — Michael W. Norfleet, 48, of Butler was charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly struck a woman's vehicle during an argument outside My Buddy's Place on Pillow Street, causing about $688 in damage.
Thursday — Patricia Rutkowski, 56, of Bakerstown, Allegheny County, and Tammi Sherman, 39, of Butler both were charged with retail theft after they allegedly shoplifted three rings from Kohl's at Butler Crossing.Oct. 1 — Nicholas Foster, 28, of Prospect was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to steal a drug testing kit from Walmart at Butler Commons.
12:30 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Zachary A. Barney, 19, of Petrolia struck a tree head-on on Fairview Road, just south of Surface Mine Operation Road in Fairview Township. Police said Barney was cited for careless driving.Sunday — A blue and white Yamaha YZ125 dirt bike was found in the 300 block of Game Reserve Road in Clearfield Township. The owner can claim the bike by calling police at 724-284-8100.8:39 a.m. Saturday — Five people were hurt in a rear-end crash on Route 8 north in front of the Clearview Mall in Center Township.The wreck happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Maria Madison, 33, of Butler struck the back of another SUV driven by Daniel E. Cline, 58, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County.Both drivers and three passengers in Cline's vehicle, all from Hyde Park, Westmoreland County, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. One of the passengers, a 51-year-old woman, was later flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.Police said Madison was cited for careless driving.10:18 p.m. Friday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Penny C. Rockar, 49, of Saxonburg and Josh S. Hildebrand, 17, of Butler collided on Route 8 north at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Police said Rockar was cited for improperly entering the road.9:10 p.m. Thursday — Robert Allen, 21, of Saxonburg faces criminal charges after he allegedly punched a girl in the face, spit at a young woman and bit a man during an altercation at the Saxony Estates on Driftwood Drive in Jefferson Township.Police said Allen is accused of spitting in the face of Rachelle Merten, 19, of Saxonburg. He also allegedly pushed her and a 17-year-old Saxonburg girl. Additionally, the suspect punched the same girl in the face.When Mark Matz, 43, of Saxonburg stepped in and tried to stop the altercation, according to a police report, Allen bit Matz on the left thumb and bicep.Police said Allen is charged with simple assault and harassment.Thursday — An unknown vandal sliced the tread on a new tractor truck tire in front of Barton Tractor Sales on Petrolia Road in Karns City. Damage in the vandalism, which happened between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, was estimated at $350.10 p.m. Sept. 29 — A car driven by William C. Sago, 24, of Prospect struck a tree at Route 488 and Pleasant Valley Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Sago was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
5:30 p.m. Saturday — Carl R. Antoniazzi, 30, of Edinburg was arrested after he allegedly assaulted three people during a domestic dispute at a home on Shaffer Road in Slippery Rock Township.Antoniazzi initially attacked Jeanne L. Crowley, 63, who lives at the home, according to a police report. When William J. Crowley, 64, who also lives there, and William D. Crowley, 26, of New Castle tried to stop the assault, police said, the suspect attacked them, too.Antoniazzi was arraigned on simple assault charges, and later released on his own recognizance.
