Butler Police8:13 a.m. Tuesday — A Washington County man using a global positioning system device crashed his van into a pickup truck at South Main Street and Pittsburgh Road. Richard T. Bell II, 30, of Cecil Township blamed the crash on GPS distraction, according to a police report.Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Timothy E. Hortert, 52, of Summit Township was driving the pickup.7:56 a.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by Loretta B. Brown, 80, of Pittsburgh and Michael K. English, 46, of Zelienople collided at North Washington and West Penn streets. Both cars sustained heavy damage in the crash.
State Police, ButlerTuesday — Police have cited a Renfrew woman whose car drifted over the center line of Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township and hit a box truck about 8 a.m. Monday.Lynda C. Nicoll, 59, was trapped in her car and rescuers had to cut her out. She was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.She was cited for a lane violation.9 p.m. Monday — Kathleen A. Cosgrove, 67, of New Castle was caught allegedly switching price tags on merchandise at the Boscov’s store in the Clearview Mall, Center Township. Cosgrove faces a charge of retail theft.Thursday — Police reported they are investigating the recent theft of two propane tanks and two mobile home tongues from 1975 Oneida Valley Road in Concord Township. The property was stolen between Feb. 1 and March 3. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.6:47 p.m. March 2 — Rae Lee Holderman, 25, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted $528 worth of clothing and shoes from three stores at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Holderman, who is charged with retail theft, is free on $3,000 bail.2 a.m. Feb. 23 — Theresa L. Rearick, 49, of Evans City was arrested after she allegedly pried open the door of a home on Marshall Alley in Forward Township. Rearick is charged with burglary, trespass and criminal mischief. She is free on $2,000 bail.
State Police, Kittanning9:45 a.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a rear-end collision in South Bend Township. Maria A. Caligiuri, 24, of Avonmore, Westmoreland County, was stopped in a construction zone on Route 156 when a sport utility vehicle hit the back of her car.Caligiuri, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Indiana Hospital in Indiana, Pa., with minor injuries. Police said Destinee M. Brown, 25, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, who was driving the SUV, was cited for careless driving.2:33 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Bryan Feitknecht, 27, of Kittanning rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 66 at Guthrie Road in Manor Township. Janice Bernot, 60, of Ford City was driving the pickup.
State Police, New CastleSunday — Two shotgun pieces were found in Little Neshannock Creek in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
