CRANBERRY TWP — Susan Ennis, local genealogist, librarian, and educator, will lead hands-on workshops focused on improving genealogy research while using library resources.

Ennis’ classes will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 and March 12 in the Cranberry Public Library’s Franklin Station North meeting room, 2525 Rochester Road.

Take a tablet or laptop and learn a research method in a short lesson. Then spend an hour researching with volunteers available.

Attendees will have access to the genealogical databases of the library. All genealogists, from beginner to advanced, are welcome.

BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, has the following events scheduled:

2 p.m. March 3, “A Sweet Stroll Through Maple History.” Take a walk through history and discover how sap taken from a maple tree becomes syrup. No registration is needed for this annual free program, but arrive on time to get a seat.

8:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 13, “Homeschool CSI: Snow Science,” the next in a series of citizen science investigations (CSI) for homes-schooling families. The center offers an educational session that features interactive discovery centers, a close look at the science of snow and instructions for participation in the citizen science project, X-Snow. The program is designed for ages 5 and older. Enrollment is limited. Register no later than Feb. 11 online at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov or by calling 724-794-6011.

[naviga:h3]Author, life coach will visit library[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — Local author Gary Goerk Sr., a board-certified advanced Christian life coach, visits the South Butler Community Library, 240 West Main St., at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

In his book “You, Me and God Make Three,” Goerk encourages readers to join him on a journey of personal and spiritual discovery that will help them in their Christian walk.

After sharing readings from his book, Gary will be signing books that are available for sale. All community members are invited to attend this free event.
