Water pipeline, hydrant projects to cost $2 million

Pennsylvania American Water announced Thursday $2 million in water projects for Butler, and Butler and Center townships in the next six months.

This project is in addition to the $18 million in pipeline improvements the company already is making at both the Lake Oneida and Thorn Run dams.

The project will replace 2.5 miles of water lines and install new fire hydrants.

One of the target areas for water line replacement is on Pillow Street in the city near Pullman Park, which Jake Gentile, PAW’s operations superintendent, admits has a history of breaks.

Streets that will be affected by construction in the three municipalities are:

@BodyCopy Bullet:Butler — 8th Avenue, Cunningham Street, Pillow Street, North and South Snyder Avenues and Wagner Avenue

Butler Township — Arch Street, Carol Way, Campbell Way, Crestview Drive, Grandview Boulevard, and Wallula, Whippo and White avenues

Center Township — Orchard Drive

Gary Lobaugh, PAW spokesman, said customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water or lower than normal water pressure during the construction project.

Anyone with questions can call the customer service center at 800-565-7292.
