Sara 'Sally' L. Smith, ex-floral shop owner

Sara "Sally" L. Smith of Butler died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born in East Butler, the daughter of the late Kenneth B. and the late Elva Marie Flack Snodgrass.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the North Street Christian Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. She was a former member of the Butler Country Club and the country club's bowling league, and was the former chairwoman of the Butler Downtown Freedom Celebration.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, her monthly group dinners and working at Gumpto's greenhouse every spring. She had owned and operated Smith's Flower Shop for more than 35 years and was currently working at Boscov's.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Thomas K. Smith, whom she married Aug. 1, 1964; a daughter, Jayne and her husband, Ronald Pate of Butler; two sons, Richard and his wife, Terri Snodgrass of Pittsburgh, and Thomas K. Smith II of Butler; six grandchildren, Justin Snodgrass, Kathryn Lennon, Richelle McKee, Macie and Branden Pate and Tunch Thomas Smith; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Lelia and Madison; a sister, Donna Nietrzeba of Grayson, Ga.; and two brothers, David Snodgrass of Butler and Kenneth Snodgrass of Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

<B>SMITH — </B>Friends of Sara "Sally" L. Smith, who died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>YOUNG FUNERAL HOME,</B> 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Panther of First United Methodist Church officiating.
