Lyndora man accused of striking, cutting woman with glass ashtray

A Lyndora man is accused of breaking a glass ashtray over a woman’s head, which caused multiple lacerations and uncontrollable bleeding, police said.

Timothy James Pletcher, 48, was charged Tuesday, July 7, by Butler Township police with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault following a July 3 incident.

Police said they were dispatched in the afternoon to the 400 block of Division Street where a woman could be heard yelling in the background of the 911 call. Police arrived to find a blood trail through inside home leading to a woman who was having difficulty controlling bleeding from a laceration on her middle finger.

Butler Ambulance Service later found two more lacerations on her forearm before taking her to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The woman told police Pletcher was angry and began insulting her, then he struck her in the head with a glass ashtray, which caused it to shatter. Police found sharp chunks of the glass ashtray scattered around the kitchen floor.

The woman said Pletcher then took a piece of the broken ashtray and sliced her arm and finger while threatening to cut her throat, according to police. Pletcher left the home when he heard an officer knocking, police said.

Pletcher’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
