Martha ‘Marty’ Burgoon
Martha Jean “Marty” Burgoon, 66, of West Sunbury, formerly of Pittsburgh and Pacific Grove, Calif., passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

For more than 33 years, Marty dedicated her career to serving individuals who were blind or visually impaired, first in Pittsburgh and later in Monterey County, California. Her patience, compassion and encouragement helped countless people live more confidently and independently.
Family was at the heart of Marty’s life. Whether at a holiday, picnic or simple family gathering, she treasured being surrounded by the people she loved. She especially enjoyed singing “The Mighty, Mighty Burgoons” with her nieces and nephews, a family tradition that will always bring smiles to those who shared it.
Faith was the foundation of Marty’s life. Her Catholic faith shaped the way she lived and cared for others and was a constant source of strength throughout her life. She was a former member of St. Louis Catholic Church in West Sunbury and most recently attended St. Faustina Parish.
Marty is survived by her five brothers, Robert (Joanne) Burgoon Jr., of Phoenix, Ariz.; David Leo (Linda) Burgoon, of West Sunbury; Michael (Karen) Burgoon, of West Sunbury; Stephen Burgoon, of West Sunbury; and Joseph (Karen) Burgoon, of Mount Gilead, N.C.
