James ‘Skip’ Salsgiver Jr.
James “Skip” Salsgiver Jr., 79, of Natrona Heights, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born Oct. 15, 1946, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of James and Arlene Moser Salsgiver.
Skip was a 1964 graduate of Knoch High School. He then went to serve his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked as a quality engineer for MSA for 40 years.
Skip was a member of St. Mary Mother of God Church, in Freeport, and the Saxonburg American Legion Post No. 7376. He enjoyed singing in the St. Joseph Church choir for many years under the direction of Gerard Conroy. He enjoyed golfing, being a member of the Monday Golf League at Saxon Golf Course and enjoyed taking golf trips with his friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Marie (Macurdy) Salsgiver; his children, Brian (Joann) Salsgiver, of Moon Township and Kelly (Justin) Beam, of Freeport, his siblings, Elizabeth (Bruce) Figler, of Natrona Heights, William (Carol) Salsgiver, of Butler, Richard (Michele) Salsgiver, of Ohio, Jeanne (Jeffrey) Renwick, of Worthington and Amy (Carey) Barton, of Kittanning; five grandchildren, Janie (Amando) Spataro, Gabriela Salsgiver, Zachary Collings, Aidan Salsgiver and Dylan Salsgiver; three great-grandchildren, Giuseppina, Saverio and Domenico; and his friend of many years, Gordon Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wallace Salsgiver and Michael Salsgiver.
SALSGIVER — Friends of James “Skip” Salsgiver Jr., who died Friday, July 3, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. A blessing service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Father Dan Blout officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Herman.
