David Rodgers Sr.
David V. “Bullwinkle” Rodgers Sr., died as a hero, in a boating accident, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, on Lake Erie.
He was born Monday, Sept. 10, 1962, at Butler Memorial Hospital, the son of George Joseph Rodgers Sr. and mother, Mary Edna Hays.
He worked as a painter and maintenance man who would give you the “shirt off his back.”
David enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, scrapping, boating, auctions and visiting the Oil Boom Saloon.
David is survived by three daughters, Victoria E. Rodgers, of Butler, Kaysea L. Rodgers, of Chicora, and Lacy W. Ausdencamp, of Chicora; five sons, Daniel Rodgers, of Butler, James J. Conway, of New Bethlehem, Timothy J. Rodgers, of Karns City, Zack A. Rodgers, of Slippery Rock, and Adam J. Rodgers, of Chicora; David’s significant other, Cathy Houserman, of Chicora; 10 grandsons; five granddaughters; one grandchild on the way; one sister, Carol Rodgers, of Chicora, and her significant other and best friend, Scott Logan, of Chicora; his children’s mothers, Paula S. Rodgers, of Butler, and Edith J. Merten, of New Bethlehem; and a good friend, Robert “Bib” Northime.
RODGERS — Friends of David V. “Bullwinkle” Rodgers Sr., who died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, and Monday, July 6, at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at St. Wendelin Church with Father Matt McClain officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
