Timothy Cotten
Timothy Earl Cotten, 57, of Freedom, Pa., passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford, following a six-year courageous battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 10, 1969, in Butler, he was the son of the late Earl and Emily Frey Cotten.
He was a 1987 graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School.
Tim worked at VEKA in Fombell, Pa., where he was a dedicated, hard-working operator for over 30 years. Known as Timmy, or sometimes Chuck Norris, he was known for his humor and incredible teaching skills.
He cherished planning family get-togethers, which always included good food, plenty of laughs and memories you’ll never forget. He also enjoyed spending time curled up in his chair reading on of his favorite Stephen King books. From time to time, you might even catch him on his burnt orange ’98 Harley Davidson Sportster, listening to some Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meat Loaf or AC/DC.
Tim especially loved his grandkids. From helping one of the boys fix their dirt bikes, to painting one of the girls nails. He was everyone’s favorite “Pappy Tim.”
Tim not only was a father but a man of loyalty, kindness and respect. His genuine moral compass was highly contagious to anyone who crossed his path. The kind of friend you could have only wish to have. Willing to give anyone the shirt off his back. He was the life of the party but the shoulder you could cry on. Guaranteed to make an impact on your life in more ways than one, he was a “simple man.”
He is survived by his girls, Courtney Cotten, of New Brighton, and Kyleigh (Justin) Boyer, of Freedom; six grandchildren, Sophia Hildman, and Brody, Jerimiah, Remmie, Ezmae and Maverik Boyer; two siblings, Glenn (Tish) Norton, of Hubbard, Ohio, and Anna (Randall) Connell, of Plain Grove; one niece, Danee Gundaker; one great-nephew, Trent; and three great-nieces, Aubrey, Angelina and Arabella.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Clever.
