Laneice Olesnevich
Laneice (Macurdy) Olesnevich, 68, of Butler, passed away tragically in an auto accident on Friday, June 12, 2026.
Born Dec. 30, 1957, in Butler, she was the daughter of Leon Macurdy and Janet Eichenlaub Macurdy.
Laneice loved her profession as a nurse delivering babies for 38 years at Butler Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2014. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Herman where she was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Christian Mothers, sang in the choir and was actively involved in the fish fry.
She loved cooking, baking, traveling, going to the river, fishing, playing her piano and reading. Above all, her most cherished moments were those spent laughing and making memories with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, an amazing mother, caring godmother and a fantastic grandma.
Surviving is her husband, Daniel L. Olesnevich, whom she married Nov. 8, 1980. She was the mother of Matthew L. (Erin) Olesnevich and their daughter, Ava, of Raleigh, N.C., Rachel Robinson and her children, Kristofer, Elyzabith and Madelyn, of Butler, and David E. Olesnevich and his son, Logan, of Pittsburgh; and sister to her siblings, Keith (Paula) Macurdy, of Harrison City, Pamela (Kevin) Karenbauer, of Butler, and Shields (Sherri) Macurdy, of Cabot.
She is reunited with her parents in heaven and leaves behind a legacy of love, family and beautiful memories.
OLESNEVICH — Friends of Laneice (Macurdy) Olesnevich, who died Friday, June 12, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, with Father Matthew McClain officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In honor of Laneice’s memory, memorial donations may be made to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the Christian Mothers or to a charity that reflects the values, faith and special connections that defined her life and touched others.
