Ruby I. Stewart, 89, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, passed away Saturday morning, May 30, 2026, at Harmony Hills, in Wexford.

Born in Red Bank Township, Armstrong County, on Aug. 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Wallace B. and Margaret Young Shick.

Ruby had been a first-grade teacher in Penn Hills School District, a fourth-grade teacher at Fox Chapel School District and a second-grade teacher at Mars Area School District.

She was a member of LifePointe Alliance Church and was a former member of the Dorseyville Alliance Church. She had been active in the missions of the Alliance Women’s Club.

The family describes her as soft-spoken, WOW, gracious, faithful, generous, compassionate, quirky, servant, missions-minded, giving, empathetic, hospitable, warm-hearted and a definite chocoholic.

She was the wife of Robert A. Stewart, whom she married March 29, 1958, and who died May 30, 2021.

She was the mother of Darnell Stewart Martino (Chris), of Baden, and Dinita Feather (Tim), of Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and the late Deanne J. Smith (son-in-law, Charles Smith, of Allison Park); grandmother of Nicole Gibson (Darvell), Rachel Feather Halim (Ronald) and Lyndsay Feather Wimer (Joseph); great-grandmother of Davion Gibson and Eleanor Wimer; and sister of Ruth Pickett, of Hamlet, N.C., and the late Carl Shick.

STEWART — Friends of Ruby I. Stewart, who died Saturday, May 30, 2026, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at LifePointe Alliance Church, 997 Route 228, Mars.

Those attending are invited to wear green in her honor.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township.
