Evans City’s EDCO Fest expands rapidly in third year
EVANS CITY — What was once Ronny Royhab’s senior project for Seneca Valley Senior High School has turned into an Evans City borough tradition.
The two-day EDCO Fest, a fundraising event for EDCO Park, wrapped up its third edition on Sunday, May 17, at EDCO Park. According to Royhab, the event has grown exponentially each year.
“We have taken over the whole entire property and surrounding properties to use it for this event,” Royhab said. “We went from using a section of the park to the whole entire property. We're bursting at the seams with entertainment and things for people to do.”
This year brought some new attractions to EDCO Fest, such as a beer garden, a carnival games area and an inflatables area. In addition, according to Royhab, this year’s EDCO Fest hosted 100 vendors, an improvement from the 60 that set up shop in the first year.
The event initially began in May 2024 as a senior project focused on raising money for EDCO Park. Royhab graduated from Seneca Valley in 2024, attends Butler County Community College and is planning on attending Slippery Rock University, but still found time to help out Sunday.
“A lot of food vendors sold out (Saturday),” Royhab said. “Today we’re blessed with some hot weather, all the vendors are happy and we're excited to see what the rest of the day brings.”
