Marking end of year, BC3 honors late trustee Glenn Miller
Butler County Community College’s board of trustees took time out during commencement activities this year to remember the loss of a cherished board member whose impact will be felt for years to come.
Glenn T. Miller, who died in January at the age of 66, received continuous praise throughout the week as college leaders celebrated his legacy alongside the impact the college can have on its students.
At the board of trustees meeting Wednesday afternoon, a plaque recognizing Miller’s service was unveiled in the Ray D. Steffler Board Room, with Miller’s wife, Leslie, present.
“She will always be part of this college too. We will welcome any time that you have, when you want to stop by and see what’s happening at the institution because both you and Glenn leaned in so hard and gave so much of yourselves to help the college get to where it’s at today,” board chairman Joe Kubit told Leslie Miller.
Throughout the day Wednesday, Miller was described by his colleagues as having a deep commitment to BC3 and its students. Words like humility, service and his deep belief in BC3’s mission were tossed around.
“Tonight, we pause to recognize those who have shaped our institution and strengthened its mission over the years, including those who are with us in spirit,” BC3 president Megan Coval said during Wednesday’s commencement. “Glenn met people where they were. He saw them fully, treated them with dignity and made them feel valuable.”
