Speed limit and pedestrian safety campaign will return to Cranberry Twp.

For a second time this year, drivers will spot hundreds of radar and yard signs across Cranberry Township reminding them to follow the posted speed limit.

The biannual campaign will be back in 32 of the township’s neighborhoods from Aug. 20 through Sept. 3, around the same time Seneca Valley School District’s academic year starts. The summer campaign took place in the township from June 5 to 19.

Radar signs will be placed daily in different neighborhoods. The data gathered from radar signs is used to raise awareness about the campaign. Police presence will also increase.

The campaign is meant to keep pedestrians, motorists and cyclists — among others — safe on streets, particularly in residential areas.

Past data has shown the campaign reduces speed on average, according to 2021 slow down campaign guidelines.

The program is funded through local business support and the township’s community chest.

More information about the campaign and a list of participating neighborhoods can be found at cranberrytownship.org/slowdown.
