Man charged with assault at Taco Bell in Slippery Rock
A Red Lion man is accused of assaulting a man at a Taco Bell in Slippery Rock.
Christopher Lee Powell, 22, was charged Wednesday, May 13, by Slippery Rock police with a felony count of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and one misdemeanor count each of reckless endangerment and possessing a weapon following an April 16 incident.
Police said they received a call from a customer at Taco Bell alleging Powell came in and attempted to grab the customer by the shirt collar. Police said Powell and the caller knew each.
According to police, security footage from inside the restaurant showed a brief struggle between Powell and the caller before Powell dropped an object. The caller told police the object was a razor blade from a box cutter and Powell made claims the caller owed him money.
Police said Powell made the caller believe he would wait outside the restaurant until the caller exited to assault him. Police did not find Powell at the scene.
When police spoke with Powell the next day, he alleged the caller was the aggressor and had been conspiring to defame him, hack his social media accounts and steal his money. Powell said he had filed a fraud investigation report with his bank and sent several cease and desist letters to the caller and others.
Powell’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
