State police say prisoner escaped, caught
A prisoner on furlough is now in state police custody after he attempted to flee into the woods Sunday morning, May 10.
State police were called to the Fairground Market in Prospect around 10:45 a.m. Sunday for reports of an escaped convict.
Police said the caller said Dustin Miller, 33, an inmate at Mercer County Jail, was on a four-hour furlough to pick up items for an upcoming work release program. The caller told police Miller stopped at the market before running into the tree line with a grocery bag of clothes.
Miller is incarcerated for previously fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and is serving a one- to three-year sentence, according to police.
He is now back in custody, police said.
