Crews limit damage with quick response in Sunday fire in Butler
Emergency crews quickly extinguished an oven fire Sunday, May 3, in Butler.
Crews were dispatched at 6:36 p.m. to an oven fire in the 300 block of Liberty Street and arrived on scene within a minute, according to Butler Bureau of Fire Chief Chris Switala.
Arriving crews found smoke showing from the front of the home. The fire was then quickly put out with an extinguisher, and crews stayed on the scene for about 30 minutes ventilating the two-story home.
The fire was caused by grease accumulation in the oven, Switala said. The Red Cross assisted the family with temporary placement due to smoke damage in the home.
Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services and Butler Ambulance Service responded.
