Joan Taylor
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Joan Marie (Schubert) Taylor, of Butler, at the age of 77. She passed peacefully from our world to her forever heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.
Joan was born Dec. 3, 1948, in Butler, to Randell and Mary (Leinenbach) Schubert.
Joan was a loving wife, sister, parent and friend who enjoyed family, friends, playing pinochle and canasta card games, tour guiding and Civil War history. Joan was a highly-skilled pinochle player and enjoyed teaching all others interested in playing the competitive card game.
After graduating from Butler High School in 1966, she attended Robert Morris College, graduating with a business management degree in 1970, and met her husband, James “Bob” Robert Taylor.
An avid reader and historian, Joan became a tour guide and tour director covering central Pennsylvania history and culture for 30 years, specializing in Gettysburg Civil War history, Hershey, Pa., and the Amish community.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bob” Taylor, in 2004.
She is survived by her two sons, Drew Taylor and Troy Taylor and their families, to include five grandchildren; and her brother, Stanley Schubert, of Butler.
A memorial service for Joan Marie (Schubert) Taylor will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
