Claudia Evans

Evans

Claudia Lu Evans, of Garner, N.C., a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love and quiet strength, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, April 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of grace, devotion and joy.

Born Dec. 18, 1939, in Grove City, and raised in the close-knit town of Mars, Claudia’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with family, faith and creativity.

A proud graduate of Mars High School, Claudia married the love of her life, Harold Richard Evans, on June 27, 1959. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love and the joyful chaos of raising five children: Wendy (the late Mitch) Lyman, Jeffrey Evans, Jodi (Kurt) Hermes, Laurie (the late Jeffrey) Fulton and Valerie (Jeff) Cook.

Claudia embraced her role as a housewife with purpose and pride, considering her greatest career accomplishment to be raising five children who not only grew to be successful, but who also came to know and love Jesus.

Claudia’s life was a testament to many blessings of which, she often said, she didn’t recognize until time had passed. Her heart overflowed with gratitude, especially for the moment she held her first granddaughter, Callie, a moment she once feared might never come.

That joy multiplied with the arrival of 11 more grandchildren: Sarah, Amanda, Kristen, Joshua, Benjamin, Caleb, Jenna, Brooke, Brandon, Micah and Kayla, each one a cherished gift.

She found joy in the simple things: arranging flowers, painting in hues of purple, pink and blue, sewing, and laughing along with her favorite show, “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Her favorite hymns — “How Great Thou Art,” “I Am Persuaded” and “I Can Only Imagine”— reflected the deep well of her faith and the hope she carried in her heart.

Claudia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold; her loyal dog, Taffy, who brought her comfort and companionship; her parents, Eugene and Kathryn Kocher; her brother, Frederick; and her cherished grandparents.

She is survived by her sister, Rebecca; her five children; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

To those who knew her, Claudia was more than a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother — she was a true and loving friend. She carried the sorrow of friends who passed before her with grace and compassion, and she hoped to be remembered not only for her love of family but for the kindness she extended to others.

Her life was a quiet sermon of faith, patience and love. She taught us not to be anxious for anything, to trust in God’s timing and to find beauty in the everyday. Claudia Lu Evans leaves behind a family rooted in love and a world made better by her presence.
