Ruth Byerly
Ruth Marie (Balentine) Byerly, 97, of Pittsburgh passed away Friday, April 17, 2026.
She was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Pittsburgh, and was the daughter to the late Samuel and Marie (Rorison) Balentine. Ruth was employed as a head cook at Stouffer’s Top of the Triangle.
She was known for being a fantastic cook and baker, and a great seamstress and dressmaker. She enjoyed crocheting and tatting, knitting and other hands-on crafts. In her free time, she played bingo, lottery and slots, and enjoyed reading horoscopes.
She was the mother of Susan (Adams) O’Shea and Donald “Ozzie” Byerly; and grandmother of James Adams Jr. and Donald Byerly Jr.
Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Emily Forder, Margret Stilburek, Earl, David and Jack Balentine.
BYERLY — All services for Ruth Marie (Balentine) Byerly, who died Friday, April 17, 2026, will be held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
Burial will be held privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
