With hundreds of thousands of attendees coming from across the nation for the 2026 NFL Draft, Butler Ambulance Service and Harmony EMS have been tapped to assist with coverage of the three-day event.

Butler Ambulance Service has a crew present for all three days of the draft, while Harmony EMS supplied a crew Friday, April 24.

Nathan Bacher, operations supervisor for Butler Ambulance Service, and Lynn Curl, director of operations for Harmony EMS, said they each sent a crew after the City of Pittsburgh reached out asking for additional support. Both said the city routinely asks for crew during larger events, such as games, concerts and festivals.

Bacher said for events, sometimes Butler Ambulance Service only provides one person who runs a first-aid clinic. For larger events, such as the draft, the service sends a two-man crew with a vehicle.

He said the first day’s crew, which was stationed within the draft’s security perimeter, told him they had a good time.

“It was unbelievably packed, but it was a pretty tame experience. You never know when it comes to standing around in the heat,” he said.

Curl said Harmony EMS’ crew is also working the North Shore neighborhood Friday, stationed not far from the entrance to the draft.
