Virginia ‘Gyni’ Rimer

Rimer

Virginia “Gyni” Rimer, 80, of Lake Milton and Ironton, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, April 16, 2026, of natural causes. She was surrounded by many loved ones in her home.

Virginia was born April 10, 1946, in Butler, daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy (McKee) Miller. She resided in many places with her family, including Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio.

Gyni had a quiet way of loving people that you could feel the moment you met her. She cared deeply, giving herself without hesitation, and touched more lives than she likely ever realized. So much of her generosity happened in the background, unnoticed by most — but it meant everything to those who needed it the most.

She spent most of her time by the lake, gardening and loving on her grandkids/great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to numerous U.S. states, New Zealand, Germany, England and France.

She retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. after 22 years. She was a regional manager for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, an active member of the March of Dimes, coordinator of Butler County Junior Miss Program, Girl Scout leader and a part of Lake Milton Welcoming Committee, along with many other activities.

Gyni is survived by her two daughters, Chelli Rimer, of Kent, Ohio, and Rhonda (DJ) Murphy, of Ironton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Katie) Murphy, Joshuae (Gwen) Murphy, Alicia (Gaige) Evans and Mica Rimer; six great-grandchildren, Collin Murphy, Mason Murphy, Carsen Murphy, Deacon Evans, Maverick Evans and Spencer Murphy; one brother, Ronald (Connie) Miller, of Slippery Rock; two sisters, Marcy Eberle, of Charlotte, N.C., and Debby (Gene) Hamilton, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert “Bob” Rimer; two sisters, Lois Langland and Janice Miller; and a four-legged “son,” Bentley Rimer.

RIMER — Visitation for Virginia “Gyni” Rimer, who died Thursday, April 16, 2026, will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, Ohio. A service and time of remembrance will follow at 11 a.m., led by Father Morris.
