Swaney

Dave Swaney, 66, of Butler, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital, after a battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 15, 1960, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of William J. Swaney and Mary Lou Schneider Swaney.

He worked as a service tech for Opta until his retirement. Dave loved spending time with his family and his grandbabies, who called him Bubba. He enjoyed working on his stock car as Bill’s Crew Chief, he also enjoyed watching Steelers football and spending time with family at the lake.

Surviving are his wife, LaVonne Swaney, whom he married Nov. 6, 1993; his children, Joshua (Rachel) Swaney, of Butler, Bill (Akron) Swaney, of Saxonburg, Natalie (Tyler) Byers, of Butler, and Monica Swaney, of Butler; four grandchildren, Kenley, Jayce, Serena and Levi; his siblings, Mary Jo (Jon Sorbo) Phillips, of Valencia, Jack Swaney, of Mars, and Jill (Patrick) Ellenberger, of Indiana, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

SWANEY — Friends of Dave Swaney, who died Friday, April 17, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Fehl officiating.
