Lois May (Golla) Barber, 81, of North Liberty, Grove City, passed away at Quality Life Services — Grove City, on Wednesday April 15, 2026.

She was born in Grove City on May 3, 1944. She was raised by her parents, Ruth Mary Patterson Carothers and James Reeder Carothers.

She married Walter Franklin Barber on Feb. 23, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 2018.

She was an active member of Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

Lois was a truly gifted homemaker and conversationalist and loved sewing and knitting, cooking and decorating wedding cakes and working in her garden. She volunteered at Grove City Medical Center, McConnells Mill State Park and with various church groups and organizations.

She was secretary at Tower Presbyterian Church for many years after working as a teller and secretary at First National Bank of Slippery Rock.

Survivors include son, Nathan Walter (Lisa) Barber; daughters, Jennifer Lorraine (Douglas) Faull and Amy Rebecca Barber, all of Grove City; brother, Robert E. (Karen) Carothers, of Grove City; five grandchildren, Krystina (Tyler) DeLong, Catherine (Jordan) Snyder, Kaylee (Andrew) VanGent, Benjamin (Kristen) Faull and Nathan Michael Barber; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John “Jack” Francis Golla; mother, Ruth Mary Patterson Carothers; stepfather, James R. “Nate” Carothers; brother; James W. “Bill” Carothers; and sister, Rebecca D. Dunkerley.

BARBER — The family of Lois May (Golla) Barber, who died Wednesday April 15, 2026, will be receiving friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at the funeral home, led by Pastor Dan Hall, of Tower Presbyterian Church.

Interment will follow on Monday, April 20, at North Liberty Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City, Pa.
