Butler boys track and field wins TSTCAs: Roundup

Carter Ekas (200-meter dash, 400), Nicco Baggetta (javelin) and Logan Ekas (100) all had individual wins for Butler at Saturday’s TSTCA Championships, and the Golden Tornado’s boys earned the meet title with 112 points, beating out Moon (80) and Norwin (52).

Butler’s 4x800 and 4x100 relays also placed first, while the 4x400 team was a runner-up.

— Slippery Rock’s Hunter Doerflinger won the 800 meters (2:00.23) at Saturday’s Big Red Invitational, held at West Middlesex High School. On the girls’ side, the Rockets’ Rhenna Humphery won the 100 hurdles (16.79 seconds) and Samantha Montgomery topped the triple jump (35-8).

Baseball

Karns City plated seven runs in the second inning of Saturday’s clash with Keystone, cruising to a 12-2 win in five innings.

Brock Dittman and Camden Slater each had two hits and two RBIs, with Slater notching a double. Xavier Bartoe went five frames on the mound, allowing two earned runs, striking out seven and walking one.

The Gremlins visit Redbank Valley on Tuesday.

Softball

Karns City needed only four hits to work a 10-5 win over Keystone at home on Saturday. The Gremlins drew a dozen walks, including three by Abigail Dunlap. Dunlap went five innings in the circle, allowing five runs — four earned — striking out seven and walking three.

Girls lacrosse

Despite three goals from Katie Blake and another two out of Hailey Long, Mars fell to Ohio’s Olentangy Liberty 7-6 for its first defeat of the season

Lola Seideneck netted the Planets’ other goal as they fell to 8-1. Mars hosts Ambridge on Tuesday.
