Man sentenced in assault case
A Butler man was sentenced Thursday in Butler County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to assaulting his former girlfriend in her Penn Township home in September 2024.
Leroy H. Goepfert, 46, was sentenced by Judge Maura Palumbi to serve 2-23 1/2 months in the Butler County Prison, pay a $25 fine, pay $500 in restitution and ordered to have no contact his former girlfriend. In addition, he was ordered to undergo alcohol testing twice a week after he is paroled from prison.
In her victim impact statement, Turner said Goepfert assaulted her after she discovered he had been in contact with other women. She said he pushed her, threw her and bit her arm hard enough that the bite mark remained visible for almost two months. He threw an object that left a hole in a wall, she said.
Following the incident, she said she couldn’t sleep in her bedroom and couldn’t focus at work. She said her grown children are afraid for her and don’t want her to date. She said she initially blamed herself and felt like a fool.
