Michigan man sentenced to probation for corruption of minors

A Michigan man was sentenced to probation Monday, March 9, in Butler County Common Pleas Court and ordered to register with Pennsylvania State Police as a Megan’s Law offender after pleading guilty to a felony charge of corruption of minors.

Parker J. Harris, 20, of Eaton Rapids, was sentenced by Judge Maura Palumbi to serve 60 months of probation and ordered to register with state police for 15 years as a tier 1 offender under Megan’s Law.

Harris pleaded guilty to corruption of minors charges, which state police filed in June 2023 after receiving reports about Harris sending explicit photos to a 12-year-old girl in Karns City via Snapchat.

Police said the girl disclosed she had been in a romantic online relationship with the man, later identified as Harris, for a few months after Harris viewed her profile on the app.

According to court documents, the girl said Harris “made her” share inappropriate photos and frequently engaged in video calls with her while he was naked.

Police said a search of the girl’s electronic devices in July 2023 showed inappropriate messages from Harris from the previous two months.

The girl was interviewed at the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center in August 2023 and disclosed that Harris “talked and acted” sweet to her even after knowing her true age and described it as “really sneaky.”

The girl said “she was hoping that after she told (Harris) how old she was that he would be scared off, but it didn’t stop him,” documents showed.

Police said the girl disclosed that Harris would send her inappropriate videos, speak of visiting her and wanted to know her location at all times.

According to the documents, the girl said Harris acknowledged he could “get into big trouble” because of the girl’s age.
