Readers support making daylight saving time standard
As Americans “sprung ahead” at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, officially beginning daylight saving time, some Butler Eagle readers were not in favor of continuing to change the clocks twice a year.
A majority of commenters who wrote in response to a post on the Butler Eagle’s Facebook page called for daylight saving time to be made permanent.
Responses included:
■ “Before retiring from my job, I was required to work in the evenings to try to catch people when they were home from work. When it would get dark early, it made my job harder because I had to walk in the dark, sometimes on icy areas you couldn't see.” — Connie Sacco, Geneva-On-The-Lake, Ohio
■ “Keep daylight ... It also saves on energy and gives kids more time to be outside to enjoy the weather.” — Jordan Anderson, Butler
■ “Keep Daylight Savings all year! I don’t like the early dark nights in the winter.” — Kim Miller, Butler
■ “I'm in the ‘keep Daylight Saving year-round’ column. I like the extra daylight in the evening.” — Joe Glaiser, Freeport
■ “I don’t care either way. Just stop switching back and forth. Pick one and we will all get used to it.” — Frank Younker, Mercer
