Charges held for former Penn Christian Academy teacher accused of indecent assault
A former Penn Christian Academy teacher with criminal charges stemming from his tenure teaching at an Allegheny County school had his charges held for court at a Wednesday, Feb. 18, preliminary hearing.
Sean M. Dicer, 53, of Brackenridge, Allegheny County, was charged with two felony counts of unlawful contact with minors, one felony count each of indecent assault and child endangerment and misdemeanor corruption of minors following a report from a former student. The charges do not relate to his time as a Penn Christian teacher.
The student, now 28, testified before the court. The incidents began when he was in fifth grade in 2007 at Fairmont Elementary School, which is now Highlands Early Childhood Center, the student said. Dicer was a teacher there at the time.
The man had told police Dicer touched him and another student inappropriately and told them to lift their shirts up.
In the current case, Dicer was charged by the Allegheny County police on Dec. 4 with sexually assaulting the boys, now 16 years old, beginning when they were 11 or 12 years old.
Three felony counts of corruption of minors, two felony counts each of sexual extortion, sexual contact with a student at a school and unlawful contact with a minor, one felony count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault and misdemeanor corruption of minors were held for court in that case.
The investigations do not involve any Penn Christian Academy students or school activities, said Wendi Caldwell, head of school, on behalf of academy leadership. The assault occurred when Dicer was employed by Highlands School District.
Dicer was hired at Penn Christian Academy Nov. 11, 2024, and was terminated Nov. 10, 2025, after the district became aware of the accusations.
Dicer is incarcerated in the Allegheny County Jail with bail denied. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 5 in Allegheny County Courthouse 519.
