AHN/Heritage Valley affiliation discussed
Allegheny Health Network is seeking approval to bring more facilities into its system.
AHN, one of the two major health systems in Western Pennsylvania, pleaded their case before the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office on Monday, Feb. 16, on why they should be allowed to go through with a proposed affiliation agreement with Heritage Valley Health System.
The hearing took place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Monaca, Beaver County.
The proposed agreement between AHN and Heritage Valley was first announced in October 2025. If granted government approval, the affiliation agreement would add Heritage Valley’s two hospitals — Beaver and Sewickley — into the AHN system along with other Heritage Valley facilities. This would boost the total number of AHN hospitals to 16.
AHN spokeswoman Nikki Buccina described the majority of testimony offered during the public hearing as “overwhelmingly positive” and in favor of the proposed agreement.
“There was testimony from health care officials, from EMTs who explained how important it is to have community hospitals when it comes to emergency response times, as well as employment.”
Allegheny Health Network operates several outpatient care facilities in Butler County, including an outpatient center in Jackson Township, a primary care facility in Saxonburg and the AHN Cancer Center in Butler.
