Forward Township wraps reopened 2026 budget

FORWARD TWP — Township supervisors have a finished budget to work with for the 2026 fiscal year.

The township’s original 2026 budget was finalized and approved in December 2025. Shortly thereafter, two of the three supervisors stepped down and were replaced, with Mark Wilson and Sheryle Long making way for Charles Behm and Ray Turner. In January, the new board voted to reopen and modify the budget.

The township’s board of supervisors approved the revised version of the budget during their monthly meeting on Thursday night, Feb. 12.

The revised budget was approved for advertisement at a special meeting on Jan. 15. According to supervisor Susan Oliver-Stough — the only one of the three supervisors to carry over from 2025 to 2026 — the township received no input from the public in the intervening month.

Like the original budget, the second finalized budget is balanced, with both expenditures and revenues coming out to $1,937,404.

One key difference from the original budget from December is that the modified budget has set aside $15,000 for America250 celebrations, instead of the original $25,000. The township’s plans for the country’s sesquicentennial include a ceremony at the Glen Eden event barn on Dufford Road.

The new budget also reduces the township’s contribution to the Evans City Volunteer Fire Department from $10,000 to $7,000.
