Santino Sloboda nearing Butler wrestling record: Roundup
Santino Sloboda (127 lbs.) and Dylan Thurber (152 lbs.) both went 6-0 for Butler at the Pine-Richland Duals. The Golden Tornado went 4-2 at the wrestling event, beating Mars (48-24), Seneca Valley (39-36), Avonworth (57-11) and West Mifflin (42-33) and losing to Greater Latrobe (29-47) and Hempfield (41-32).
Sloboda, a senior, notched his 160th career win, tying Cole Baxter for the most victories in program history. Butler will host the individial Section 2 championships at the Butler Senior High School gymnasium on Saturday.
Logan Ekas, Carter Ekas, Isaac Miller and Kevin Shriver broke Butler’s indoor track school record in the 4x200 relay (1:29.26), finishing third at The Spire Showcase Invitational in Geneva, Ohio, on Saturday.
The Golden Tornado’s Ethan Thomas, Alex Motonis, Mateo Saspe and Logan Rogers posted a win in the 4x800 relay (8:07.64), while Deacon Simko, Carter Ekas, Miller and Shriver were tops in the 4x400 relay (3:22.86).

Knoch got 14 points from Vinnie DeFelice, 13 from Teegan Finucan and Derek Lang and 10 from Liam Avon as it beat Aquinas Academy 71-37 on Saturday.
North Catholic 46, Mars 40 — Alexis Cashdollar poured in a game-high 14 points for Mars, but her Planets fell short in a non-conference matchup against North Catholic 46-40. Brady Wehner had 13 points for the Trojanettes, Lauren Reitz added 12 and Kate Vislosky another 10.
