Additional charges filed against Slippery Rock woman accused of string of thefts

A Slippery Rock woman who is accused of a string of thefts in recent months has had additional charges filed against her.

Alliyah L. Reitnauer, 24, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of theft from a motor vehicle and loitering/prowling at night in connection with a Sunday, Feb. 1, incident in which she is accused of breaking into multiple vehicles on New Castle Street in Slippery Rock Borough.

According to an affidavit, the incident was first reported by a caller at 4 a.m. Sunday morning who noticed an individual in dark clothing “attempting to break into their neighbor’s vehicle.”

The affidavit then goes on to state a Slippery Rock University police officer found an individual matching that description near a white sedan. The individual attempted to flee but was placed into custody. She allegedly had several items on her person which would normally be found in unlocked vehicles, including loose change and lottery tickets.

According to the affidavit, Reitnauer told the officer the sedan belonged to a friend of hers and she was simply checking to make sure it was locked. However, when police got in touch with the owner, they said they knew no one named Alliyah and that she shouldn’t have been near the car.

Reitnauer was previously charged on Wednesday with a series of alleged thefts across Slippery Rock since November.

Her previous charges include theft from a motor vehicle, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Reitnauer is currently confined to Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
