Butler man accused of armed robbery on Main Street

A Butler man is accused of mugging someone while possibly carrying a firearm Saturday, Jan. 24, on North Main Street near its intersection with Penn Street in the city.

Andrew Lawrence Martin, 36, was charged Sunday, Jan. 25, by city police with felony robbery following the incident.

Police responded at 8:45 p.m. to the 300 block of North Main Street for a reported disturbance.

Police arrived and spoke with a person who said they were approached by a man wearing white pants and a black puffy coat with their hands in their jacket pockets acting like he had a firearm and demanding money.

Police found Martin a block away wearing the same clothing as the person described. Police also confirmed his identity using surveillance cameras.

Martin is being held in Butler County Prison on a $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Monday before District Judge William Fullerton.
