CRANBERRY TWP — Supervisors are primed to approve authorizations to bid on multiple infrastructure and park related projects following an agenda preparation meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22.

All of the projects are slated to be officially bid out at an upcoming meeting on Feb. 5.

The first of those projects will be a bid on an emergency signal in front of the fire station along Route 19. The signal has been in disrepair for several months.

Cranberry received $212,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Green Light-Go grant program to support the project.

Township manager Dan Santoro said officials hope to have the signal replaced by the end of the year if all goes to plan acquiring materials.

“The challenge with any traffic signal project is signal poles have an eight-month lead time from an order perspective,” he said. “We’ll order them as soon as the board gives approval for that. But it will take some time.”

Two other projects revolve around improvements at two of the township’s parks.

As part of the township’s newly updated agreement with the Seneca Valley Soccer Association, one of the fields at North Boundary Park will be converted from natural grass to artificial turf to “expand youth recreation opportunities.”

Similarly, the township’s pact with the Seneca Valley Baseball and Softball Association includes an understanding to improve the fields at the Community Park.

Fields 3 and 4 are set to receive artificial turf as part of those ongoing improvements.

The final authorization to bid revolves around a sharpening grinder for the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. That tool will help staff sharpen equipment periodically throughout the year.
