Dollar General to open Clay Township location
Dollar General will continue to expand its presence in Butler County with a new store in Clay Township.
The township’s board of supervisors approved plans at its meeting Thursday, March 5, for construction of a new Dollar General on the 1200 block of West Sunbury Road.
Dollar General public relations said construction has already began, and the store is slated to open some time this summer, though “construction progress may alter this date.”
According to Dollar General, the store will employ around six to 10 people, depending on the store’s needs.
The location is on an open lot near a couple of houses and the intersection with Vidic Road. Supervisors also approved agreements for sewage, stormwater management and operation maintenance for the new store.
There are now more than a dozen Dollar Generals throughout Butler County, with several opening in recent years. Last year, a Dollar General opened in Center Township on Route 8. The chain also revealed plans last April to open two locations in Slippery Rock Township.
A DG Market also opened last year on South Main Street in Butler, replacing a former Rite Aid and filling a gap for fresh food access.
