Registration still open for Adams Township/Mars merger public hearing

Mars and Adams Township will jointly host a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday night, Jan. 22, at Twelve Oaks Mansion in Adams Township, to discuss a proposed municipal merger with residents of both municipalities. The doors open at 5 p.m.

Adams Township manager Mike Tylka previewed the meeting during a Business Before Breakfast session on Wednesday morning at South College in Cranberry Township.

“Our hope is that as we run through that presentation, you’ll all hopefully have some of your questions answered at that time, including the name (of the merged township), which in social media seems to be one of the biggest ones,” Tylka said.

Those looking to attend the meeting are strongly encouraged to register in advance through the Adams Township website.

According to Tylka, 250 people had signed up as of Tuesday morning. The facility has a maximum capacity of 325.

“We have 278 chairs,” Tylka said. “So if you have not signed up, go onto our website immediately.”

A public comment field is included on the township’s dedicated merger page, allowing residents of both townships to share their thoughts.

“If there’s any thoughts you want to share with us that you haven’t seen … you can submit it to us and it’ll get sent to our board of supervisors,” Tylka said.

Tylka also said a second public meeting regarding the merger is planned for a later date.
