Butler County communities get state grants for water, sewer projects

It was announced Tuesday that Butler County communities will get millions of dollars in grants for new water, sewer and transportation projects from the state.

State Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th, and state Reps. Aaron Bernstine, R-8th, Marci Mustello, R-11th, and Stephenie Scialabba, R-12th, announced the grants in news releases Jan. 20.

Local municipalities will receive the grant money through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program for various infrastructure upgrades.

Grants include:

■ Jackson Township was awarded $400,000 to construct a pedestrian bridge, extend a community trail and widen Hartmann Road.

■ Ogle View Corner, LLC, was awarded $400,000 for road, intersection and pedestrian infrastructure improvements on Route 19 and Ogle View Road in Cranberry Township.

■ Mars Borough received $200,000 for the West Arch Street and Hazel Avenue stormwater study project.

■ Evans City received $300,000 for Phase III of its stormwater conveyance improvement project.

■ The municipal water authority of Adams Township was awarded $300,000 toward the Forsythe and Harbinson roads water line extension project.

■ The Harmony Borough Water Authority received $100,000 for the chlorine contact loop project.

■ Clearfield Township will get $500,000 to reconstruct 2.6 miles of Clearfield Road.

■ Oakland Township will receive $400,000 for road enhancement and preservation projects.

■ The Saxonburg Area Authority is getting $489,558 to replace two remaining vitrified clay sewer lines on Carol and Beatty drives with PVC pipe.
