John Olenic Jr.

John “Jake” Olenic Jr., of Butler Township, celebrated his 100th birthday on Jan. 17, with a family dinner at home.

Olenic was born on Jan. 17, 1926, in Butler.

He married Louise Muto on June 26, 1948, at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She is deceased.

Olenic has three children, Donna Olenic and Jackie Olenic, both of Butler, and Patti Blazejewski, of New Castle.

He also has two grandchildren, Brian Blazejewski and Kristen Cassano, and two great-grandchildren, Annalyse Cassano and Amelia Cassano.

He retired from Armco Steel as a general foreman of north processing, with 40 years of service.

He is a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael Church in Butler.

He is a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having served in Germany.
